Somerset County has been known as the “high point” of Pennsylvania since its founding in 1795.  At 3,213 feet, Mt. Davis stands as the state’s highest elevation and is appreciated by thousands of campers, hunters, and visitors each year.  But that isn’t the only reason why Somerset County is called the “high point” of Pennsylvania.

Wine tasting and vineyard tours are available at Glades Pike Winery in Somerset. In addition to winemaking and storage space,  the facility includes a tasting room, gift shop and banquet hall. The banquet hall seats 250 guests, and the winery offers assistance with planning events.

Different wines include dry, semi-dry, semi-sweet, sweet and fruit/dessert wines. For individuals interested in the winemaking process, tours are available by appointment only.

Finding Internet connections while traveling could be a hassle, but several locations in Somerset County have made life a little simpler by offering travelers free wireless Internet. During regular business hours, visitors can bring their laptops to the listed locations and access free Wi-Fi.
